QUICKLY, QUIETLY
LYRICS
Dominique - Quickly, quietly, everyone hurry now. Quickly, quietly, bring the supplies!
We need everything gathered here right away, quickly before the baby arrives. We need bottles.
Company – Bottles.
Dominique - And binkies.
Company – And binkies.
Dominique – Billowing pillows and bassinets.
Company – (Sing with Dominique.) Oooh, Bassinets.
Dominique – We need diapers.
Company – Diapers.
Dominique – And wipers.
Chorus – And wipers.
Dominique – Lotions and notions for baby’s layette.
Company – Oooh Baby’s layette.
Company – We have waited so long, eons and ages have come and gone. Now at last sometime this morn, a royal heir will be born.
Dominique - Quickly, quietly, everyone hurry now! Wait! I don’t see the child’s new clothes.
Call the weaver she must come here right away. You were in charge of baby’s new clothes!
Sophie – I’ve racked my brain all week and feel that I must speak. I have not woven anything.
Anything, for the queen. I’d planned a wardrobe grand, the best in all the land. Plus sheets and blankets for the bed. Tiny crown for their head.
Company – (spoken) Awww!
Sophie – But when I came to start, a beat skipped in my heart. And I was forced to think, shall I make them blue or pink?
Chorus
– Shall she make them blue or pink? Hmm?
Girls – She’ll be pretty, and dainty, sweet and petite and full of grace.
Boys – He’ll be manly, mischievous, he’ll rough-house and wrestle and race.
Company – We have waited so long. Eons and ages have come and gone. Boys – Now at last a prince will be born.

Girls – (spoken) Girl! Pink! (company argues)
Pierre – QUIIIIIIIEEEEET! (he bows to King) Your Majesty.

THE STAFF'S REPORT
LYRICS
Sophie - In the deepest part of Africa there grows a scarlet flower. It’s berries make a dye the perfect color for my thread. It took eleven weeks and every ounce of my will-power. But I/she obtained those berries for my tapestry of red.
Company – Wow!
Sophie - Purple, blue, and golden dyes were just has hard to mix. But all that was easy when compared to what came next.
Each tapestry is woven to depict each fairy’s theme. The figures and the shadows seem to move like in a dream. Company – Ooooo!
Sophie - And even tho’ I/she worked my little fingers to the bone, each tapestry is worthy to adorn a fairy’s throne!
Monique – Finding fairy cuisine, it is not as easy as it may seem. They like the rarest, butterfly wings sprinkled with the dust of magical moonbeams. Button mushrooms marinated in the morning dew. Honeysuckle nectar softly simmered in a stew.
Company – Yum!
Monique – Fern fronds dainty as lace, and meringue whipped up from hummingbird eggs. It’s taken months of planning a stress to create the foods that fairies like best.
François – When in pursuit of perfect gems, one has to journey to the world’s furthest ends. Sapphires from Spain, pearls from Peru, diamonds from Africa, jade from Thimphu. I/he crossed burning deserts and I/he sailed
the stormy seas. I/he was chased by cannibals and swarms of killer bees!
Company – (frightened) Oh!
François – High in the mountains of Tibet, I/he found unparalleled gold for my set. I/he cast the gold with master’s skill. My/his art’s guaranteed to thrill.
(Repeat. Boys with Francois. Altos with Dominique. Sopranos with Sophie.)
THE FAIRIES' DUETS
LYRICS
Malicious- I’m waiting, still waiting, I’ve been patiently waiting. For so long, for weeks now for my invitation to arrive.
Fairies – We have all been invited and we are so excited. We cannot wait to see the party. We are anticipating excessive celebrating. We cannot wait to see the ball!
All – It’s been so long since I’ve had fun. I think I’m going to shout. I’m sure I’ll simply loose my mind. If I don’t get out, out, out!
Fairies – We have all been invited and we are so excited.
We cannot wait to see the party.
We are anticipating excessive celebrating We cannot wait to see the ball!
Malicious- I’m waiting, still waiting, I’ve been patiently waiting.
For so long, for weeks now for my invitation to arrive.
Faith, Harmony, Charity - Which of our dresses shall we wear?
Hope, Grace – Royal occasions are so rare.
Faith, Harmony, Charity – We cannot wait to meet the heir.
Hope, Grace – Beautiful people will be there.
Faith, Harmony, Charity - Candles will burn with shining light
Hope, Grace – Music will play all through the night.
Faith, Harmony, Charity - The blessings that we give must be just right!
Hope, Grace – Blessings must be right.
Fairies – A royal princess must be fair of face, Must be sweet and gracefully inclined. A royal heir must be a leader true, only the best will do. We have the best in mind.
Malicious – This is getting ridiculous. Why isn’t it here yet? My invitation should have come here first. This is so insulting! King Christophe, he will pay! I guess I’d better conjure up a curse! What a delightful dilemma. Concocting his demise, Plotting his “good-byes.” I’ll cut him down to size!
Malicious – (spoken) Fire?
Ogres – Yeah!
Malicious – No. Drought?
Ogres – Yeah!
Malicious – No. Should I make his teeth fall out?
Ogres – Yeah!
Malicious – No. Too short, too long. King Christophe is strong. There must be something here to break his will. Ah ha! I have it! This is perfect! This will do.
Ogres – Are you gonna make him bald?
Malicious – Better still. (sung) What you must remember is, the King is brave and wise. Even if I plan a curse that’s wild. He will just endure it, and go on with his life. The way to hurt King Christophe is to curse his tiny newborn child! Ogres – (spoken) Ooo.
Malicious – (spoken) Yes!
Fairies – We have all been invited and we are so excited.
We cannot wait to see the party.
We are anticipating excessive celebrating
Malicious- I’m waiting, still waiting, I’ve been patiently waiting.
For so long, for weeks now
Malicious – For my invitation to arrive.
Fairies – We cannot wait ‘till we arrive.
Malicious – They will wish I never had arrived!
RUE THE DAY
LYRICS
Malicious - You will rue the day, wait and see I’ll make you pay. You wrote Beauty’s destiny, the moment you crossed me. I could have given anything, a gift that’s fit for any queen, the gift of sight or wealth untold, to know men’s thoughts, or ne’er grow old. But I was shunned, I was ignored, my status mocked, my gift abhorred. And now you come to me and cry, “Please spare the child, don’t let her die.” Well, you will rue the day, wait and see I’ll make you pay. You wrote Beauty’s destiny the moment you crossed me.
They were first to cause offense, I’m not the one to blame, but you now can rest assured, they’ll not forget my name. Is that not the way it happened, is it not all true? Wouldn’t you react with rage if the victim had been you? Oh, oh. You will rue the day, wait and see I’ll make you pay.
You wrote Beauty’s destiny the moment you crossed me.
I could never show them mercy, I could not forgive their sins. I’m consumed by hate and fury raging from within. It’s the source of all my strength it’s power I could not deny. I must heed its call for hate, the innocent must die! You will rue the day wait and see I’ll make you pay. You wrote Beauty’s destiny.
Ogres – You wrote Beauty’s destiny.
Malicious - It’s your fault so don’t blame me.
Ogres - It’s your fault so don’t blame she.
All - You wrote Beauty’s destiny,
The moment you crossed me/she!
QUEEN'S LULLABY
LYRICS
Queen – There are so many things, I hoped you’d never see. Dark and appalling things, fright’ning but real. If I could have a wish, if wishes came true, the strength to fight these evil things, would come from inside of you. Go to sleep, close your eyes, your mother and father are near. Tiny stars light up the skies, and you have nothing to fear.
Queen and King – For you have the strength of a thousand kings coursing through your veins. And you have the courage of a thousand golden knights racing through your dreams. So when the dark bursts through your door,
don’t run, don’t cry don’t hide. Stand tall, don’t give in and you’ll always win. For love is on your side. For love is on your side.
SPINNING WHEEL/LOVE IS ON OUR SIDE REPRISE

Love Is On Your Side Reprise (with Queen’s Lullaby)
Company - We will burn our spinning wheels in bonfires bright. Flames will burn higher as a symbol of what’s right. Like this fire our passion grows, together we’ll stand. We’ll give all we have to save our Beauty and our land. So when we hear the dark burst through our door, don’t run, don’t cry, don’t hide. We’ll never give in, and we’ll always win. For love’s on side.
For love is on our side.
IT'S A DANGEROUS LIFE
NOTHING IS STRONGER THAN LOVE
LYRICS
Beauty – Must you go? Must you really go? We have grown so close. You have been my dearest friend, and I shall miss you so.
Justice – Beauty I will return to you. I swear with all of my soul. I’ll hurry back when my journey is through, For when we’re together I’m whole.
Beauty – I know that you will return to me. I feel you deep in my heart.
And you will be taking a piece of me for nothing can keep up apart.
Justice – (descant) I will come soon, wait for me. I will come soon. Nothing can keep us, nothing can keep us,

DREAM ON
LYRICS
King - How she glows, tho’ eyes are closed, my Beauty sweet and mild. How could anyone dare to harm, my cherished, only child. Words can’t say in any way the sorrow that we feel. No one’s fate should be dictated by a spinning wheel. So, she’ll dream on as the days pass on, ‘till the time when she may awake. But her life of today, will have faded away, all who loved her and lived for her sake.
Dream On Reprise (with company)
Company –There is still a choice to be made, live our lives or live afraid. We will reap the seeds that we sow, so choose the good and true way to go. Ohhh, ohhh.
King – There is still a war to be won, this battle’s lost but the next has begun.
Company – We decide our own destiny, our joy is worth one century. (lines)
Company –
(sung) So we’ll dream on as the days pass on, tho’ we know we may never wake.
But when given a choice we will cry with one voice, it’s a risk that we’re willing to take.
ONE YEAR GONE
LYRICS
Goodwin - One year gone, two years gone, three years gone then four. Peasants from surrounding towns come knock the castle door.
Men - No one answers to their calls.
Women - No sound heard within the halls.
Company -There’s no life beyond the walls, so they go home again.
Goodwin - Five years gone, six years gone, seven years in all. Peasants once again return to find the castle wall.
Men - Raiders from a Northern band,
Women - steal our food and burn our land.
Company - Send your soldiers make a stand, will no one hear our cry?
FINALE
LYRICS
Company - For nothing is stronger than love. We’ll always be (women) together, (men echo) together. Nothing is stronger than love. (women) Not fears, (men echo) not fears. (women) Or trials.
